Welcome to Fur Ability, where excellence in pet rehabilitation is our standard.
Originally established in 2020 as a canine conditioning and fitness business during the pandemic, we evolved into an independent full rehabilitation service in 2023, serving the Maritimes.
Our goal is to complement and enhance your pet's regular and holistic veterinary treatments, ensuring the best chance of recovery and a fulfilling life.
With over 15 years of veterinary industry experience, we provide individualized care tailored to your pet's needs.
To begin treatment, a referral from your veterinarian is required, allowing us to work closely with them and your holistic vet if you have one.
We look forward to working with you to promote your pet's whole-body well-being and vitality.
Hi, I'm
Kirsty-Jane Powell-Palmer PgDip Vet. Physio, BSc(hons) Vet. Nurse, CCFT
Hello, I'm Kirsty, the founder, and I'm passionate about helping animals thrive. At Fur Ability, we offer a unique approach to rehabilitation that combines expertise with empathy.
Originally from the UK, my family and I moved to Nova Scotia in 2017, drawn to its friendly community and outdoor lifestyle.
With a BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing from Napier University, Edinburgh, I've dedicated my career to providing gold-standard care to animals beyond conventional medicine. My journey led me to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy at Harper Adams University, UK, and become a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer (CCFT) through the University of Tennessee. After working as a Veterinary Rehabilitation Technician in an integrated care clinic, I realized the importance of a integrated collaborative approach to provide holistic veterinary care in healing patients.
Now, recognized by the veterinary association, I offer rehabilitation services autonomously, via referrals from veterinarians.
Fur Ability is born from my passion for helping animals thrive, combining my expertise to deliver high-quality rehabilitation services to our clients and their beloved pets.
